Pre Order "The Lower Depths" LP

Pre Order Now @ The Reaper Records Store

Forfeit is a band birthed by the inspiration that its members drew from the legacy of their local scene. Having all been in previous hardcore outfits, Steve Hornyak, Ben Shaw, and TomDom felt a strong pull towards the roots of Syracuse hardcore.

In 2007 the group started writing and playing songs in that vein together as Forfeit. That same year they recorded a demo at More Sound Studio. The following year brought the addition of both Brian McGee and Pat Benson to fill out the lineup and the sonic void. In 2008, Forfeit released their first EP, "Visions" on Reaper Records. Touring to support the release with bands such as Trapped Under Ice, Death Before Dishonor, Terror, Blacklisted, Cro-Mags, Have Heart and Down to Nothing. Bringing the music to new fans of the band as much as they can and developing a great following in a short time.

2009 brings a new LP recording from the group that is being released this fall on Reaper Records. The album is entitled "The Lower Depths" and promises to build and expand on their musical vision. The group plans to tour extensively to support the release and bring both pride and glory to the scene that spawned them.

Back in the States - Tour w/ Downpresser in August

So yesterday was the final straw of our tour in Europe. We had a blast over there even though a lot of things didn't go our way. First off we would like to apologize for the shows that were cancelled (especially the Venice and Poland show) unfortunately we just couldn't make the drive to both of those shows with one driver and make it back in time to catch our flight back home. Despite what you may or may not of heard that is the real reason.

We're still very excited about Europe and we had a great time and met a lot of awesome people, expect us back in the future very soon. For those of you reading check out a few of the bands who've we have met over there, Cornered and New Morality. Both bands have helped us out a lot and we have managed to make god friends with those dudes when we were over there. Can't wait to make our way back and to see both those bands again.

Our driver Frank runs a record label and distro so if you live over there be sure to check his stuff out, or if you live in the states check out the bands he has put out and buy his stuff online. Crucial Attack Records and he also runs Not Just Words Records. Both labels have a lot of great European hardcore bands so check it out.

We will be leaving in about three weeks with our good friends in Downpresser hitting up the midwest and east coast a little bit. Check the dates below and if you live anywhere near the shows come and check it out. Downpresser is a sick band, they are next best thing out of California right now.
  • August 6th The Tower - Cleveland, OH
  • August 7th Inside Out Gallery - Traverse City, MI
  • August 8th The Eagles Nest - Milwaukee, WI
  • August 9th The Ghost House - Lincoln, NE
  • August 10th Mission Theater - Kansas City, MO
  • August 11th Smith Seven House - Memphis, TN
  • August 12th TBA - St.Louis, MO
  • August 13th The Murphy Building - Indianapolis, IN
After that we will be playing the Great American Hardcore fest in Boston and around that time we will be having our record release show in Syracuse. We are still working on that right now so check back in a few weeks for more info on when the LP is coming out and when the record release shows will be. Go pick up some records at the Reaper Records webstore.

Euro Tour Update: Yo Patat

We've committed treason im afraid, we have currently been undergoing a tour over in Europe and right now we have about one week left of the tour then we are flying home on the 20th of july. Right now we are doing pretty good but this tour started off with some rough patches, needless to say we are still having fun over here.

We drove down to NYC to leave for D.C. Turned out our connecting flight to D.C. was delayed. They told us that it would leave in plenty of time for us to catch our plane in D.C. to Brussels (Belgium). Well they were wrong on that one. We landed in D.C. about an hour after the plane landed.

So after waiting in the customer service line for over 2 hours we went to go talk to some higher up people for another 3hrs. They had told us that the next flight to Brussels was not until 6pm the next day, it was about that time when we landed. They could not hook us up with a place to stay so we were forced to sleep in the terminal for over a day until our flight the next day.

Luckily we got on that flight okay and landed fine. We were picked up by some of the dudes in the Setup in Brussels, loaded up the van with our gear and we went on our way to the U.K. (so we thought). We were all out of it, no one got good sleep really. We found out that our working papers never came in, which we need to play in the U.K. without having to pay the government. So we showed up at the border, instead of walking the bridge like most people do we went into the building. None of us had a game plan so we all told them complete different stories. They knew we were a band and we were detained for about 6 hrs. They had told us that we were denied and we had to go back to Belgium.

We heard that Have Heart was playing somewheres near by so we all hoped in the van and drove 3 hrs to go see them. We showed up and they had about 2 songs left. The show was outside, really weird vibe. Turns out there were bloc parties all over the place so after the show we walked around for a while. Couple of the dudes with us pretended to vomit all over pretty young ladies it was awesome (it was orange fanta i beleive).

We met up with our driver Franke and road Dawg Neils at the show, both dudes are awesome and we've been with those guys for the whole tour so far. We've played some really cool shows with New Morality and the Mongoloids along with a show with Cold World, No Turning Back, Dirty Money and others. That show was chaos, No Turning Back killed it for sure that night, such an awsome band and they are all great dudes. We also played a boat in Paris with the Mongoloids and New Morality that was pretty fun as well.

We have about a week left of tour, hopefully its smooth sailing from here on out. When we get back home we will be hitting up the road for over a week or so in August with our good friends in Downpresser from California, awesome band if you havnt already you need to check them out. Check the dates below and come out to the shows:
  • August 6th The Tower - Cleveland, OH
  • August 7th Inside Out Gallery - Traverse City, MI
  • August 8th The Eagles Nest - Milwaukee, WI
  • August 9th The Ghost House - Lincoln, NE
  • August 10th Mission Theater - Kansas City, MO
  • August 11th Smith Seven House - Memphis, TN
  • August 12th TBA - St.Louis, MO
  • August 13th The Murphy Building - Indianapolis, IN
We will be chilling at This is Hardcore fest for all three days, then we will be heading back home. We wont be playing much more shows outside NY until The Great American Hardcore fest. We have a couple of tours after that we will be announcing soon, just laying down the dates and what not, shits going to be cool.

Check back for more updates, hopefully we make it out of europe alive, if not its been fun playing in the states and we will continue as a european hardcore band but i dont see that happening. YO PATAT!

also we made a twitter account so if your on that as well be sure to follow us at -  http://twitter.com/Forfeit

Post Tour Update #2: "right?"

It's been a little while since i've updated this, but we've been home now for almost two weeks. Currently we are getting ready to head over to Europe, more news on that in a couple of days.

This past tour was great, every show we played was a blast and had great turnouts which surprised us all a little. We have done a lot of damage since i last updated this so ill try and dig deep and try and remember all the nonsense that ensued.

Right after we left texas we headed are way up to Johnson City, TN. That show was really fun for us, we played there last time with Down to Nothing, Swamp Thing, and more. We had to quickly get out of their and drive 10 or 11 hours to play in Brooklyn for the Black N Blue Bowl. It felt great to be able to play that fest. Every year that happens and there are always bands we get excited about seeing and it was great to be one of the bands on that flyer. Some of the highlight were Crown of Thornz, Indecision, Earth Crisis and many more.

After the superbowl we worked our way down to east coast all the way to Florida. On the way we caught on a few shows with Naysayer, Bracewar, and Bad Seed. Those shows were really great. We played a basement show with those bands outside of Baltimore, and i have to say that that was the smallest basement ever and that place got torn apart. The day before we had a day off in baltimore but somehow one of our friends hooked us up to get us on a show with Stigma and wisdom in chains at a bar, us being huge AF fans we glady took him up on the offer. That show was a blast, it was a little weird because it was the normal bar crowd but it was cool to get on a show with stigma.

After those shows we worked our way down the coast and finally ended up in florida. Whenever we are down there we are always lucky to stay with our good friend Sam (BBB Records). We had a blast the last time we stayed at his house with foundation on the last summer tour and this time was just as great. We ate at the infamous "Sonnys BBQ" and everyone was in shock that i finished my meal (that never happens by the way).

The shows down there were fun and it was good to see some of our good friends down there. On our way back we stopped in Daytona beach and got all suited up for a day at the beach. Shaw thought the dolphin were sharks and a creepy creature crawled around his leg so he was out in no time.

We worked our way back up the east coast to finish off the last few days of the tour. The one that was really awsome for us was Atlanta. We were able to spend some time hanging with our boys in Foundation. We had an awsome BBQ at Hanks house, and jumped off his dock. It took me a good hour to do it because i am deathly afraid of heights (mind you the dock was like 20ft tall, not your normal dock) but eventually i maned up and did it with wildcat and it was a blast. The show was later on that day at this venue the Warehouse. It was are first time playing there and it was a good first impression. Kids went nuts and foundation killed it. Their new shit sounds like Buried Alive...so siked!

We left atlanta the next day after getting our back window smashed in, kind of a bum out but it didn't matter, we had a good time hanging with those dudes. We left for columbus and the show fell through but luckily we were able to hop on a show with our good friends in Cruel Hand. the show was the craziest venue and the fact that I'm a huge wrestling fan made it even crazier because we played in a wrestling wring. Im bummed i didn't take photographic evidence. We were hoping the ropes would be up but they weren't, still the weirdest stage we've ever played on. It seems like whenever we meet up with Cruel Hand its always the weirdest of shows.

This tour was a lot of fun for us, we had little van trouble and met a lot of great people, can't wait to get back on the road in the U.S. again. We will be leaving to head out for europe in a couple days. Check back for a post with more info on that, just waiting on the tour poster so i will be posting that up here as well. We will be touring over there with this band called The Setup, if you have yet to check them out please do they are an awsome band.

Tour Update #1: "The Lower Depths"

So we have been out for over a week now, you would think that we would be in the midwest somewhere but in fact we just did a weekend in California with Downpresser and Creatures and we are currently working our way back up to play the Superbowl of Hardcore.

The weekend with Creatures and Downpresser was insane, we played the Gilman and that was awsome to be able to play that venue. The shows in Santa Barbara and Long Beach. The house show in Long Beach was complete madness. Check out both Creatures and Downpresser, both bands are sick.

We've had some pretty crazy drives so far on this tour. We ended up driving from St. Paul Minnisota to Seattle Washington. The drive was roughly 26 hours. We hit a lot of states that we've never been to, one being Montana and that was pretty intense. There was a lot to see at some parts driving through and then it would go straight to nothing, but it was still cool. Driving through Washington was really awsome as well.

The weather has been pretty intense out here, through montana and washington it went from cold to extremely hot, so of coarse we went swimming. We stopped off at an exit and snuck into this hotel with a waterslide coming out of the fucking building. Of coarse im such a child that i had a blast. On the way to california we stopped in Portland to go to this famous Donut shop. Now for starters, the donuts were amazing and completely ridiculous, for example i purchases a donut with fruit loops cereal on top of vanilla frosting, it was delicous. If you are ever in Portland go and hit up Voodoo Donuts.

Now if you ever end up in Portland, stop and turn around and go back home because there are freaks everywhere. Mind you we were there on a thursday in the morning in the part of town where men dress up as girls and people pay to watch them dance around a pole. One guy came out of this night club screaming "I KISSED A MALE, I KISSED A MALE", we knew where he was earlier that night thats for sure. So to make it short... if you ever find yourself in Portland on a thursday night your going to see some serious shit.

This tour has been cool doing it by ourselves and two road dogs (reggie and dougy), the last full u.s. we did was with foundation. It's always fun to tour with other bands but so far there has been no complaints with it just being us.Right now we are currently in San Antonio, TX. We played the warehouse last night with Cruel Hand and a million other bands. The show was total fantasy. The venue was huge and the mixture of bands was very weird. Almost every band had a banner so we felt the need to make one of our own.

Today we play Houston then work our way up to play Johnson City, TN and then to Brooklyn to play the Black N Blue Bowl (Superbowl of Hardcore). Check back for another update at the end of the tour.

We might as well announce it on here that the title of the LP will be called "The Lower Depths". Its been a long process coming up with a name and we had many choices but the lower depths fits the lyrics and the overall theme of the record. The artwork is being drawn up now by Mike Tommyrot (Black SS, Halo Tattoos) and the layout will be finished as soon as we get back home. Check back for more news on the LP and we will be posting Europe Dates soon as well. Hit us up on the road, go to the Superbowl and listen to Downpresser and Creatures.
